Story
Last year, I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, which has spread to my liver, pelvis and spine. Research has enabled doctors to develop a greater understanding of cancers and I started treatment straight away. The treatment worked well until February this year when unfortunately, one of the cancer cells grew. My new treatment didn’t work, so I have just started stronger chemotherapy in the hope of getting back on track..
Cancer Research UK is one of the leading organisations doing amazing work and clinical trials and hopefully a cure can be found soon.
This year, I am taking on some big challenges, which will really push my limits! They are:
- 106k walk around the Isle of Wight (completed over 2 days)**
- 10k swim in Lake Windermere (with no stops)
- Swimming the English Channel as part of a 4-person relay team.
They all involve a rigorous and long training schedule, which has been very challenging with Covid, treatment change and life in general! Please donate if you're able, as their work is essential in preventing, treating and hopefully curing cancer.
**due to starting chemo, I’m not able to complete the full distance, so a friend is doing the walk for me. I also will completing some of the distance and other friends will be walking the additional miles for me.
Last year, I completed the following and am grateful for everyone that donated:
- 100k walk up and down the Jurassic Coast
- 5k swim in Lake Windermere
- 30k walk in the Lake District
- 2.1k upstream dawn swim in the River Thames
