Story
"My name is Samantha Thannisch, and I am Fluttering this year to remind everyone that 47 kids are diagnosed with cancer every day in the U.S. I also want to raise money for Pediatric Cancer Research so that maybe one day other kids like me will have more options for cancer medicine. Fluttering will be going on the whole month of September, so please help me by sharing!
My Story: In November of 2020 my mommy took me to the Dr because I was having really bad pains in my tummy. I was feeling so sick and we didn't know why. The Dr had me do a CT scan and I was taken to the hospital that same day. I saw so many Dr that first night. I had a surgery early the next morning so they could learn more about the tumor that showed up on my scan. One week later the Dr told us that the tumor on my liver was cancer. I was diagnosed with Undifferentiated Embryonal Sarcoma of the Liver (UESL). After many days in the hospital, completing my treatments and having surgery to remove the tumor, I am so thankful to be 1 year in remission! Raising money for research is important for not just me but other kids like me who are fighting cancer."

Did you know that the National Cancer Institute, the federal department that allocates all federal cancer funding, spends LESS THAN 4% of it's annual budget on pediatric cancers?
Unravel is a 501(c)3 nonprofit working to bridge the gap in funding for pediatric cancer research. With the help of warrior families like ours and our communities, Unravel raises awareness of the need for this research and the funds to support it. Unlike the typical grant funding model, Unravel gives unrestricted funds to innovative pediatric cancer researchers, which removes barriers and accelerates the development of more effective and less toxic treatments for children with cancer.
