Story
In 2022 I will be taking part in the Ultra Challenge to walk around the Isle of Wight (106km) in memory of my husband James. The island holds special memories for us as well as having family there.
In 2012, just after his 30th birthday, James was diagnosed with a primary brain tumour following a routine eye appointment. He fought bravely for 8 years, undergoing neurosurgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy as well as taking part in a clinical trial. He went through all of that with a smile on his face whilst we raised our two young children. Unfortunately in December 2020, despite chemotherapy, we were told that the tumour had continued to grow and James was out of treatment options. 18 days later he died holding my hand, he was only 38.
Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Yet despite this there hasn't been an increased investment in research from the Government and larger cancer charities are still not seeing parity of funding with other cancers. Please consider supporting the Brain Tumour Charity by sponsoring me. A cure can't wait. Thank you.
