Heart achingly, my beautiful niece Rae was stillborn in May. I have decided to run the Great North Run 2019 and hold a Fundraiser on Saturday 10th August in her memory and to raise awareness for the charity 4Louis that helped my Sister and Brother in Law throughout this tragic time.
I was shocked to hear that 1 in every 225 births ends in a stillbirth in the UK. That's 9 babies every day. Charities like 4Louis offer support to the parents and familes who have suffered the tragic loss of a child. I am hoping to raise money for 4Louis to aid them in the fantastic work they carry out. Your donation could go towards things like:
A personalised memory box - 4Louis memory boxes are tailored to suit the needs of the unit they will be delivered to, and contain many items to help inspire bereaved families capture mementos of their baby or child. They are also a useful tool to the healthcare professional by offering them a small ice breaker when engaging with the family by giving them something to talk about and encourage the family’s involvement in capturing these precious keepsakes. 4Louis currently supply 6 different style Memory Boxes.
Bereavement and Family rooms offer families the opportunity to spend precious time with their baby or child in a peaceful and homely environment while they prepare to say goodbye. They are ideally positioned away from the main wards but with staff and medical facilities on hand
4louis have funded many bereavement and family rooms from providing soft furnishings, kitchenettes, to full renovations, some of our projects have been funded by families in memory of their little ones. For us this was an opportunity to visit and spend some precious time with our darling Rae away from the busy labour wards which I know was a huge comfort to my sister.
4louis is a charity that helps families who suffer the trauma of miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal/infant loss, and the death of a child up to the age of 16. They also support midwives and nurses with other vital equipment such as moses baskets, cuddle cots, camera equipment, and support with bereavement suites.
Nobody should ever have to experience the agonising loss of a child and as a family it is a sadness that is indescribable. Donating to a charity like 4louis allows them to continue to comfort families having to deal with this tragedy.
I won’t get the chance to be Rae’s auntie and do all the lovely things I had hoped with her, but i can only try to be and do my best for her memory.
