Story
I've experienced the pain and grief that suicide leaves in those left behind, but I've also been in that position of helplessness and despair that so many people think can never happen to them.
On 1st May 2020, I will be undertaking a challenge like nothing I've ever experienced before, I'll be attempting to walk over 7,500 miles from St. Malo, France across the nearly the entire breadth of Eurasia, all the way to Beijing, China.
I'll be doing this because whilst I think some progress has been made in terms of the way we think about mental health in the media, with society as a whole, to me it seems that there’s still an underlying stigma that still prevents so many people from seeking the help that they need.
After the death of a close friend, and persevering through my own struggles, I realize the importance of organizations like Mind Jersey and how the work that they do can really make a difference to those that are struggling to cope with their own mental health. It’s why I'll be walking a distance of over 7,500 miles, through some of the most remote and desolate places on Earth. Not just to support Mind Jersey, but to let all those young people out there that are suffering in silence know that they are not alone, and that eventually it will get better.
