Story
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for taking a minute to check out my fundraising page.
I've wanted to do some fundraising for a long time, and now i'm finally doing so by participating in the Great South Run. The event takes places in Portsmouth, which was my home for three years whilst I was at university. The run is a flat ten miles, with tens of thousands of participants running to raise money for some great charities.
I will be running to represent and raise money for OCD action, who are the biggest charity in the United Kingdom who specialise in providing support to people who suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) - whilst continually raising awareness. It upsets me to think that this disorder is drastically misunderstood and as a consequence of this is trivialised by those who do not understand how debilitating it can be. OCD is an anxiety based disorder in which unwanted thoughts and worries cause great distress to the sufferer and lead to complex and time-consuming ritualistic behaviours, which are believed to be a preventative action. Ultimately, this can have horrible negative effects on a person and cause them to suffer in all areas of their everyday life. If not treated effectively, the condition and symptoms can worsen and cause further mental health issues, as well as physical health problems.
I'm going to give this run my all, and hope to raise as much money as I can to support both the charity and all those who are affected by this.
If you have any money at all that you can spare please please donate, there is no minimum donation when it comes to generosity and every single penny is appreciated.
Thanks again!
Sam
