Story
At 18 years of age, Terry Fox learned that due to bone cancer his right leg would be amputated above the knee. During his ordeal, Terry became convinced that a cure for cancer could be found through cancer research, but funds were in short supply.Four decades on, Terry's 'Marathon of Hope' continues to raise funds for cancer research through the charity founded by Terry's family. To date the Terry Fox Foundation has raised over £500 million to support cancer research. Here in the UK, the Terry Fox Run supports The Institute of Cancer Research, London which is one of the world's leading cancer research institutes.
When I first learnt of Terry, his amazing determination and heart breaking story last year it had a profound effect on me as I had lost my best friend to cancer at just 17 years old. In the 30 years since then my family has been affected by cancer several times. The Terry Fox Foundation has raised a stunning amount of money over the last 42 years in Terry's memory for cancer research which could have benefitted my own families fight with this awful disease but there is much work still to do and many cures still to find.
Please support Casper and me if you can. We will be leaving home at 3.30am to travel the 110 miles down to London to run at 9am on Sunday 30th October (this is the rearranged date for the event)
Thank You ❤️
