Let me tell you about the best friend I've ever had...
Hannah was the kind of person everyone wanted to be friends with. Kind, thoughtful, organised(!) she was the person others turned to for comfort or advice because she lifted people up and made them into the best versions of themselves. In short, Hannah made the world a better place.
Few people are ever lucky enough to have a best friend like this. However I hit the jackpot. Not only because she was my best friend but because, reader, I married her.
Very sadly, as anyone reading this page will know, in January my darling wife Hannah passed away from cancer.
At the very moment our lives were being turned upside down, Sue Ryder at Thorpe Hall were there for us. The team supported our whole family through the most difficult time of our lives.
The care that Hannah received from the doctors, nurses and carers was exemplary and I cannot begin to express my gratitude to the whole team.
So I’m running the marathon! Training for this with 2 small children is no easy task but this was too important a task not to undertake. (Un)fortunately one of Beatrix’s classmate’s mum has also signed up to run for Sue Ryder at Thorpe Hall too, so there’s no way I can back out now!
Sue Ryder rely on the crucial funds from charitable donations to continue the incredible work they do. No amount I raise will be enough to repay the thanks I owe to the team at Thorpe Hall. The compassionate, and expert care they provide allows those receiving palliative care to help them live the best life they possibly can.
Thank you for your generous donations. Knowing I’m doing something that gives back to an organisation that is so close to our family’s heart makes all the blisters and chafing worthwhile!
