Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are both so very thankful for the GOSH teams’ support and care and feel compelled to pass on the message about the fantastic work they do for children with rare or very difficult medical challenges as well as raise any funds we can to help support the great work they do. So Sam will be walking 100k on the Thames Path Challenge and with any luck will manage to persuade Emma to join her for 25k! To raise the sponsorship needed we will also be holding a raffle, a cake sale and a Teddy Tombola, so any support, be it buying a raffle ticket, donating a raffle prize, donating on this site, donating or buying cakes, or donating any unwanted soft toys, we would love to receive any contributions. Fabulous raffle prizes to be won, BA flight simulator session, Denbies Vineyard tour and wine, family portrait session, family days out and more......!

Alfie's story is pretty straightforward compared to what Thomas is going through. He was born with a skull condition called metopic craniosynostosis which required an operation at 15 months old to reshape his forehead. I think you can see from the pictures what a fantastic job they have done! Going on the train up to GOSH for his check ups is a great adventure now for Alfie. He will be up there again at the end of May for a new technique to reduce the size of his tonsils, which has less risk and hopefully will be less painful for him too. Neither of these operations could have been done at our local hospital. We are so lucky to have GOSH on our doorstep. Sam

Thomas is 15 months old and has had allergy problems from birth. Diagnosed with Cow’s Milk Protein allergy at 3 months, Thomas then started to react to very basic first weaning foods. After referral to Great Ormond Street Hospital he underwent investigations which showed a rare bowel condition as a result of multiple food protein allergies.

Despite his food difficulties, Thomas is a very happy, curious and content boy. We would not have been able to to gain an understanding of his situation without the profound specialism of the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Emma
