Story
Nick Penn
3rd March 1985 - 4th August 2010
Nick was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in June 2006. He bravely fought the cancer for four years, but sadly passed away in August 2010. It was a turbulent four years for Nick following his diagnosis. He was treated mainly at St. Georges Hospital in Tooting, London. Nick was treated with over ten different courses of chemotherapy, two bone-marrow stem-cell transplants and radiotherapy during this time.
Nick was a popular young man, and very close to his family. An aspiring film director, he often talked of ideas for movies and helped others develop short films. He was heavily involved with drama in many of his jobs, including working closely with the drama department at Hollyfield School, Surbiton, where he and a friend helped to establish the ILEX Theatre. He also worked as a stagehand at various theatres around South-West London.
Nick chose the Lymphoma association as his charity, so as a way of raising money Sam Bignell and Sam King are cycling from London to Amsterdam in August 2013
We aim to cover 50 to 70 miles a day from London to Dover, catch a ferry to Calais, then head to Belgium to pick up the North Sea Cycle Route to Amsterdam.
