Story
As a kid who stutters, I've struggled all my life with speaking, communication, and expression. Having a difficulty in something as essential in speaking is a huge challenge, and there are millions who stutter around the globe, far more seriously than I do. And ALL of them have voices. One of the biggest dangers to stuttering is its ability to impede on a person's confidence and make them feel like they don't have a voice to share. I am raising money for the Stuttering Association for the Young to provide support for kids who stutter and give them both resources and a safe space to share their voice and their creativity.
SAY: The Stuttering Association for the Young is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides support, advocacy, and life-changing experiences for young people who stutter, ages 3-18. Since 2001, SAY has offered comprehensive and innovative programs that address the physical, social, and emotional impacts of stuttering. Through summer camp, regional day camps, speech therapy, and creative arts programming, SAY builds a community of acceptance, friendship, and encouragement where young people who stutter can develop the confidence and communication skills they need to thrive. In these trying times, we are seeing widespread suspension of many vital services. Young people who stutter are at genuine risk of suffering the same fate. More than ever, SAY is wholeheartedly dedicated to our mission and determined to keep this essential community HERE and available for EVERY child who stutters.Join us for our first-ever LIVE Virtual Benefit on May 15, 2020, at 6:00 PM EST!
