Story
After injuring myself whilst training for last year’s London marathon, I was forced by a very attractive doctor to withdraw 3 weeks prior to the run. However, this year I have decided to man-up, raise more money and complete it in a time even Paula Radcliffe would be proud of!
On the 7th March I ran the Bath half-marathon in a time which I was extremely pleased (and surprised) about! Since then, I have been steadily building up the distance and pace. With less than 2 weeks to go, the plan is to complete one final run before binging on pasta, cake and Ginster sandwiches to build up the well needed energy!
My motivation to run is to raise as much money as possible for VSO - a great charity whom work with local communities in developing countries to fight poverty and achieve lasting change. Having lived, worked and visited some of the most deprived areas in the world, I can assure you that any amount you are able to contribute will make a SIGNIFICANT improvement to the individuals living in these areas.
For those of you who sponsored me last year, rest assured that your money is safely in the tills of Bath’s finest nightclubs (only joking)! On a serious note - thank you. Your contributions have been critical in helping VSO to continue to improve people’s lives. Every day around 1,500 VSO volunteers are working in carefully selected placements, sharing skills and building capabilities- tackling poverty by empowering those really affected by it. VSO is also working hard in the area of advocacy - supporting disadvantaged communities by bringing their stories and experience to the attention of the public and decision-makers worldwide.
For those of you have not sponsored me, any donations would be hugely appreciated. This is a charity who utilises every penny they receive, thus ANY contributions will go a long way.
Thanks for your help and support,
Sam x
