3 peaks 24hr challenge · 24 September 2016
Hellings Brothers Roofing are aiming to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Mount Snowdon in 24 hrs. We are raising money for three great causes but my wife and I are representing Kicks Count....
In 2011 myself and my wife Rebecca lost our first baby. It was such a devastating shock. We called her Ferne & she's always in our hearts & she is the reason we have chosen to raise money for Kicks Count.
When Bex fell pregnant again we were so worried. We knew what could go wrong and it felt like we might never bring a baby home.
Bex came across the charity Kicks Count (or count the kicks as it was known as back then) and it gave her some confidence that she could do something pro-active to help our baby make it safely into the world and that was simply to be aware of our baby's movements in her womb. A few times we went into hospital because our baby wasn't moving as she had been and that can be a sign the baby is in distress. The midwives would put the monitor on and trace the baby's heartbeat and thankfully all was well & in 2012 we welcomed our beautiful daughter safely into the world. With Kicks Count always in the back of her mind Bex had the confidence to get reassurance when she needed it. If you're pregnant and reading this check out Kicks counts website and always go to your maternity unit if your baby's movements change- get checked out, don't wait until tomorrow!! Dads if your partner says the baby is quiet today, take her to get checked out straight away- better safe than sorry.
We now have two beautiful girls at home with us who bring us so much joy everyday.
Please help us raise some money for this small but great charity.
