Story
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page, my name is Sam Harding and I am planning on running the London Marathon April 2023 in order to raise at least £2,000 for the charity the MS society.
The MS society is a charity that means a lot to my family, as in 2020 we went through some difficult months over the Christmas period. My wife Claire, who already has managed Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 10, started to become very ill. She had mobility problems, constant sickness, two hospital stays and a visit from the paramedics. It was clear that something was not right.
In March 2021, Claire was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS), an autoimmune condition where the body attacks the nerves in the brain and the spinal cord. Claire has periods of time when she has a relapse of the MS and it can be debilitating, leaving her barely able to walk. For those of you lucky enough to have met Claire, you wouldn’t know that she has to endure anything so hard (apart from being married to me). She shows incredible strength everyday to deal with the effect her MS has on her doing ‘normal’ things that most of us take for granted. She gives everything to raise our two boys and we all appreciate and love her massively.
Having seen the effect of living with MS first hand, it is still really hard to understand the toll it takes on the person suffering each day. Claire’s normal has been changed forever and I wanted to help in what ever way I could.
Your support would mean the world to our family and others who have any form of MS, so if you could share this page with someone who would support the charity or donate what you are able to then I’m sure it would be appreciated by many.
Thank you for your support,
Sam, Claire, Charlie and Finn
