Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Two and a half years ago our lives fell apart when I finished a weekend of night shifts to find my son James extremely unwell and had to rush him to A&E. Within a few hours we were in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and given the awful news that he was suffering with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. To add insult to injury, he had 2 large blood clots. He remained critical for the next 7 days until the treatment began working its magic. That was 23rd December 2019 when he was just like any other happy and cheeky 6 year old.
Fast forward 30 months and here we are… James is now 9 years old with 10 months left of chemo. He is doing remarkably well and has fought so bravely throughout with his beautiful smile and cheerfulness hardly slipping no matter what was thrown at him (and there has been a lot!).
There are no words to describe the journey we have travelled, but I am forever indebted to so many people and charities who have enabled us to navigate the destructive world that encompasses cancer. Very early on, “Young Lives v Cancer” provided us with a solid rock to cling to - a phenomenal lady who has been our “social worker” and friend, emotionally and practically supporting us enthusiastically, sympathetically and consistently throughout. Nothing has been too much trouble and I truly don’t know how I’d have managed without her.
To show my appreciation for what YLVC have done for us and to try to start “living” again, I have come upon this opportunity to raise money with a skydive 🪂 (…and as a bonus, after 2 ½ years of inactivity and comfort eating, the prospect of throwing myself out of a plane at 12,000 feet is also motivating me to lose some excess baggage 😆)
I would really appreciate any donation you might be able to give - no matter how small.
Thankyou so much,
Sam
