Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I will be running the 2023 Manchester marathon for MacMillan in memory of my good friend Andrew Stoner. I met Andrew at the University of Leeds in 2014, where his charisma and kind nature shone through instantly. We shared a love of football, beer and music that made us firm friends throughout our time in Leeds.
After suffering a series of seizures, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour which he fought bravely through surgery and multiple rounds of chemo and radiotherapy. He continued his studies on his medical degree and continued to live life to the full wherever possible. Sadly he lost his battle in December 2019.
MacMillan are a charity that provides invaluable emotional, practical and financial support to those people and families who are affected by cancer. Their network of volunteers are supporting over 3 million people in the UK alone and are funded 98% by voluntary donations. I am proud to be running my first marathon for them and am eager to take on the challenge.
Thank you so much for reading, if you would like to donate I would be really grateful. I am hopeful that I will be able to double my money raised through my employer scheme, Mondelez Cash Match, which I will apply for having completed the event.
Much love
Sam
