Story
In January 2013, my 5yr old son Charlie was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease Fanconi Anemia which had caused complete bone marrow failure.
Thankfully, Charlie received a life-saving batch of stem cells from a unrelated blood cord in June 2013 and has been doing well ever since, returning to school in February 2014.
After learning more about what is involved in getting a match I will be doingmy best to raise both funds and awareness for Anthony Nolan.
Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is told they have a blood cancer, such as leukaemia. For many, a bone marrow transplant is their only hope of survival.
Anthony Nolan gives patients that hope. Every day, they use their register to match incredible individuals willing to donate their blood stem cells or bone marrow to people who desperately need lifesaving transplants.
However, currently they are only able to find a matching donor for around half the patients in need, which is why growing the donor register is so vital.
Anthony Nolan need our help to grow the donor register and cord blood bank, helping to find more matches and save more lives. Twentyone agency are aiming to raise £1,000 for Anthony Nolan over the next year.
Thank you for joining in to help save more lives
