The Luton and Dunstable Hospital Charitable Fund - On Your Marks Luton · 16 October 2011 ·
As many of you know on the 23rd Aug 2011 I gave birth to our little boy Frankie. Due to complications during my pregnancy he was born 6 weeks early and although he was a good weight for his gestation, he was rushed into intensive care in the Neonatal Unit (NICU) at the Luton and Dunstable hospital. He spent a total of 18 days in the NICU. These were the hardest 18 days of our lives. It was an emotional rollercoaster with euphoric highs and devistating lows but It was the wonderful care and support we recieved from the staff that helped get us through it.
1 in 7 babies born in the L and D need to spend some time in the NICU. Figures like these mean that unfortunatly it is only a matter of time before someone you know and love ends up with a child in NICU.
Due to the expensive medical equiptment needed in the NICU, the average cost of 1 nights treatement is £1200. That means the treament costs for Frankies stay in NICU would have been around £21,600.
We will never be able to repay the team of staff in NICU for saving our little boys life, however we would like to do something to repay some of the £21,600 it cost for Frankie's treatment.
We have decided as a family to take part in the On Your Marks 2K family run on 16th Oct 2011 to raise money for NICU appeal. All money raised goes towards equiptment for the new building so more sick and premiture babies can be treated at the Luton and Dunstable hospital.
Please can you sponser our little family who will be competing under the team name of "Frankie Says Relax" to compete the family race and raise money for a charity very close to our hearts. Anything you can give is massively appreciated.
Thanks so so much for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page..
Love Sam, Joe, Freddie and Little Frankie.
