Story
Five years ago I entered the 5k Stroke Association Resolution run in memory of my dad, which was the first time I had run in an organised event. Since then I have run in 5k, 10k and 14k races and am now setting myself the challenge of running a half marathon. 😯
I will be raising money for the Stroke Association, as a thank you for all the support they gave to Dad after his stroke and to me after my sub-arachnoid brain haemorrhage (a type of stroke).
The Stroke Association support people to rebuild their lives after stroke. They believe everyone deserves to live the best life they can after stroke. The Stroke Association provides specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives. Rebuilding lives after stroke is a team effort. It takes the determination of stroke survivors and carers, the generosity of supporters and the dedication of the healthcare and research communities to get there.
I am one of the lucky ones who made a full recovery. Dad wasn’t so lucky but survived for nearly 8 years following his stroke. The Stroke Association were a huge support for Mum and Dad during this time, so I am proud to be running to raise money for their charity.
