Sam's Bath to Didcot Ultramarathon

Sam's Bath to Didcot Ultramarathon · 1 June 2014
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I'm part of a team trying to raise £10,000 this year for prostate cancer. After the disappointment of missing out on the Bath Half Marathon due to injury, I'm aiming to raise money for Cancer Research UK by travelling home from university after my last exams.
My usual route home would involve getting a 1 hour 30 minute train from Bath Spa to the lovely Didcot Parkway. But this time I've upped the challenge and will (attempt to) run the 60 miles in order to raise awareness of prostate cancer. Google seem to believe that, barring any sort of British wildlife-related death along the way, it would take 19 hours and 50 minutes to walk… I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think I've ever stayed awake for that length of time.
But before I start to talk myself out of it, I hope that you all agree that this is a worthy cause. Before this year I was unaware that prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. Over 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. That’s 100 new diagnoses each day. And by 2030, it’s estimated that prostate cancer will be the most common type of cancer.
Any donation of any size will be hugely appreciated. I will post the route of my "fun run" nearer the time if any of you would like to cheer me on/hurl abuse!
Thanks again for the support,
Sam
