Story
We organise an annual 5K run in memory of our babies Molly, Dylan and Owen.
Our little girl was stillborn on 10th May 2017. As we were getting ready to walk out of the hospital with empty arms our nurse gave us a 4Louis memory box. It contained many lovely things but the one that meant the most to us was the certificate of life because being born at 20-weeks she would never have a birth certificate and her birth would not be registered.
On 3rd December 2018 we lost our Dylan. Prior to his delivery our midwife, Sonia, presented us with the 4Louis box and we talked about the memories we would like to make; hand and footprints, a little lock of hair and photos. When he arrived he was dressed in his tiny outfit and laid in a cuddle cot. He just looked like he was sleeping. The cuddle cot meant we were able to spend time with Dylan, the midwives and chaplain all made such a fuss of him and it was wonderful to have the opportunity to show off our beautiful boy.
The 2nd July 2020 is Owens’ heavenly birthday. We said goodbye and gave him his little 4Louis teddy whilst the other is in his memory box. This is such a comfort.
Returning to running was an important step in helping me to feel like myself again after my pregnancies. A 5K fun run seemed a good way to remember our little ones, raise awareness of baby loss and to support the charity 4Louis. The funds raised will help provide memory boxes and cuddle cots allowing families to spend more time their baby after they are born.
