Story
Sam's dad spent 4 months in Salisbury spinal unit after a heart operation left him paralysed. Horatio's Garden was a place that he often sat in either to meet his family and dogs or just to sit and come to terms with what's happened. It's a beautiful garden designed with the life changing injuries in mind. They can help tend the plants or just help themselves to tea and sit and enjoy the sunshine. A treat that would otherwise be out of the question for people in hospital for long periods.
The garden was the brainchild of Horatio Chapple and his father David a surgeon at Sailsbury Spinal Hospital. Horatio would volunteer there during the school holidays. Sadly Horatio was killed by a Polar Bear aged 17 so in his honour the charity was set up and the garden built.
