Here we go then… 26.2 Miles to go… and a lot of training before hand!

I will be running the TCS London Marathon 2025 in aid of Winston’s Wish, a charity that is held extremely close to mine, and my families hearts.

In 2005, my family and I received the devastating news that my dad, Colin Childerley, had passed away, taking his own life. It was news that crumbled all of our worlds, leaving us in a time of great unknown and sadness. My Dad was a fun, caring and lovable character who was taken far too soon from us. My incredible Mum, was left with a 7 & 10 year old, grieving the loss of her Husband, but also still acting as the rock to our family (which she is still is to this day!). To ensure we had the opportunity to speak, ask questions, grieve properly, she got in contact with Winston’s Wish, a charity who specialises in supporting grieving children. It was a time in my life that will stay with me forever, but one that was supported and made easier by such a fantastic charity and incredible family that I am so grateful to have.

The support that Winston’s Wish can offer families, especially children who are going through a period of grief is unexplainable. The incredible team work closely and offer direct support and guidance, aiding families through an incredible difficult period. In a time of despair when everything seems lost, they are there every step of the way. I can hand on heart say that without them, I wouldn’t have coped with the grieving period half as well as I had done, I miss my Dad everyday, but with their help, it only gets easier!
