Story

I have chosen to fundraise for Autism because it's become a massive part of our lives this last 18 months. My son Dexter has shown some very clear signs of autism since he was around 12 months old. Dexter is now 2 years and is happier and healthier than ever. He's cuddly, cheeky, adventurous, full of life and a sensory seeker.

Dexter currently loves to walk on his tip toes and loves to run, climb and spin, but with autism comes some challenges. Dexter is non verbal, has little understanding of verbal communication, does not typically socialise with others and is very clumsy. Dexter can be hyperfocused, anxious of busy environments, have regular meltdowns and be over sensitive to new situations or places.

I love watching the way his brain works to achieve what he wants, but it does not always work in a typical way like other children. This learning difficulty is increasing world wide currently with around 1 in 100 thought to have Autism, the money raised will help those that need it. To make their world safer, calmer and hopefully increase there understanding of the world and there place in it.
