As you know, we came back to England after James was diagnosed because we all thought, rightly, that this was the best place for us to receive support from our family and friends.  

James and I always knew that his condition was terminal but it wasn't until just after Christmas last year that we had the conversation with the Prof in which we were told that James really didn't have very long to live.  As you might imagine, it was a conversation that I will never forget but we both dealt with the news with equanimity.  

We were subsequently introduced to The Princess Alice Hospice and since then, James and I have received a huge amount of support from them.  Mr W had a dedicated nurse who helped both with some of the physical aspects of his treatment and his general wellbeing and I have benefited from seeing a counsellor on a regular basis.  Over the forthcoming months, the girls and I will continue to rely on their bereavement services. 

I believe that one of the reasons the girls and I were able to look after James at home during the last two weeks of his life is because of the support we received from The Princess Alice Hospice and I think it would be lovely if we could raise some money in James' memory to say thank you. I appreciate that, with your help, the girls have already raised a not inconsiderable sum of money for both The Royal Marsden and Marie Curie, but I think it would be lovely if we could have one last 'hurrah' so to speak, in Mr W's name.  As Mr W would say, I promise to take my foot off the charity 'chugging' pedal hereon after.
