Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Meningitis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
This will be my third marathon and each time I have run for the Meningitis Trust. I was lucky enough to survive meningitis when I was three and to have no long term effects. I was very very lucky. I'm not really a natural runner and the training is harder this time than before; this might be because I am five years older! and a little heavier. But I'm still fairly well motivated with the long run coming up in the next two weeks.
I'm supported by my lovely husband Alan, who will be waiting at the halfway stage with my energy drink and emergency banana!
I'm so grateful for any sponsorship and so are all of the families and individuals who weren't as lucky as me and have been affected by meningitis.
Thanks a million!

Update!
The long run is now out of the way and after 21.2 miles I seemed to be holding up rather well. some bruising of the toes, but nothing out of the ordinary!
I was also able to run 14 miles this last weekend (12th April) from Cramlington, to Seaton Delavel and out along the coast to St Mary's island at Whitley Bay! There was a beautiful clear blue sky and the North Sea looked most inviting for a dip and then I remembered that to place a digit into the North Sea in April means almost certain frostbite so I desisted and ran back instead. I can recommend the North East of England for training runs!
Only a short run this weekend. Hopefully it's all 'in the bank' now as they say. Feeling nervous, but I think that's a good sign. I will update when this turns into blind panic!
Thanks again for any sponsorship.. Greatly appreciated!

Hi Folks!
Well it's all over.. I finished in 5:12. it was very, very hot in the latter stages, but I managed to run all the way at a steady pace which I was quite peased about. No ill effects to speak of, I'm feeling very stiff as you can imagine and my feet are all the colours of the rainbow.. But most of all there's a great sense of achievement. I was positioned very near the back for most of the race.. If you were watching I ran for a while alongside Shaggy and Scooby, Buzz Lightyear, and Rod the Leprechaun. I overtook two Rhinos and the Beatles in the Yellow Submarine. I myself was overtaken by Jack the Ripper and a Womble!
What a magnificent day! The crowds were amazing and still supporting even after four or five hours of standing in the sun. Everyone at the Meningitis Trust were wonderful, including a shower and a massage afterwards! Most of all thank you to everyone who has sponsored me because that is what really makes it worthwhile..
Thanks again..
