Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are heading to Whitehaven, Cumbria on 19-21 October 2018, to help raise funds for The Charlie and Kathleen Dunnery Children's Fund (CKDCF), which is dedicated to children's health, wellness and educational needs in the area of Cumbria. It was founded by Francis Dunnery, a musician we have both followed avidly since our teens (and who in recent years has performed in both of our homes!).
The October weekend is an annual fundraising event which includes a sponsored 6km walk entitled "Joy in the Rain" around Loweswater and a benefit concert featuring Francis and other musicians.
We appreciate that a 6km walk around the Lake District is not exactly the London Marathon, so we have signed up to a few more events to encourage donations:
Wanderlust - 15 September 2018 at Battersea Park - "Mindful Triathlon" - 5km run, 90 minutes of yoga and 30 minutes meditation (Sally and Julie)
Yes, that does sound like a run followed by a lot of lying down... which takes us to...
Gung-Ho! - 22 September 2018 at Crystal Palace - 5km run along an inflatable assault course (Sally)
Yes, that still sounds like a lot of fun. A low-key "It's A Knockout" maybe, which takes us to...
Dawn or Dusk - 7 October 2018 - 2 x 5km runs at 9am (dawn apparently) and 3.30pm (dusk obviously) (Julie)
Victoria Park Autumn 10k - 14 October 2018 (Sally)
Sally has never run further than about 5.5km, so this will be a challenge. Although with Francis's music on a Spotify playlist she might just make it. Aiming for sub-60 minutes, but let's see.
That should also be just about sufficient training for us to take on the 6km walk around Loweswater on 20 October!
Please do show us your support!
Thanks very much
