Sally's 24 Hour Tandem Row

24 Hour Tandem Row · 18 September 2020
Simon and Ally are two best friends who grew up in Linlithgow and both now currently reside in East Kilbride. They are co-owners of Base Fitness and CrossFit (previously CrossFit East Kilbride). Every year since the gym was established in 2013, they have organised or participated in a charity event.
This year they have taken on the huge challenge of completing a 24 hour indoor row; with the ultimate goal of beating the world record for the maximum indoor distance rowed by 2 males (aged 30-39) in 24 hours - currently 364,464 meters. Due to the magnitude of this challenge, they are hoping to raise more money than ever before and have decided to raise money for the Marie Curie charity. Like many people, they have experienced the loss of a loved one from terminal illness and know first hand how valuable the support from Marie Curie is for those reaching the end of their lives. In 2011 Simon lost his Dad to cancer. To mark what would have been the year of his 70th birthday, he wants to take this opportunity to raise money for the charity that offered so much care and support to his family at that time.
