Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2022, I was given the devastating news that my baby was growing outside the womb. It was ectopic. I will never forget the words of the sonographer... "there is no pregnancy in the womb." Within the space of a few hours, I was told the pregnancy would have to end and the process of this would need to begin straight away.
I opted for medical management instead of surgery but I didn't fully understand that this meant I would continue to be pregnant for another 5 weeks whilst my baby stopped growing and was 'slowly absorbed' by my body. It was a whirlwind and the hospital (although brilliant) provided us with limited information, on a leaflet.
The Ectopic Pregnancy Trust website was the one place I knew that I could get all the answers I was looking for. I constantly thought of new questions and their website offered me answers, support and real-life stories. Just reading about other peoples stories on the forum brought me comfort in knowing that eventually, I would be able to move forwards.
I knew I needed to do something to focus my thoughts and turn this news into something productive. I thought "if my body isn't going to grow a baby over the next 8 months, it needs to do something else." So I chose to start Couch to 5K and I booked an event. I chose the Cheltenham Running Festival as it takes place in June - the month out baby would've been born.
I would to love to raise as much money as possible for this incredible charity. 1 in 80 pregnancies are ectopic and the EPT provides families with information and support at a very difficult time. An ectopic pregnancy is life-threatening for the women involved and the baby can never be saved. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for reading my story and for showing your support.
