Story
Sally "sporty, always doing sports" Hill will be running 10 kilometres around the heart of London on July 11. To those of you who know me well, this will be a hilarious concept. Those of you who I've only met in the last year may actually believe I'm sporty, so we can stick with that story.
It's the first time I've ever done anything like this. In the last year I have overcome my hatred of exercise, especially running. And now I will take on my dislike of both competitive and spectator sports by participating in a race watched by thousands of people!
It's the 10th anniversary of the Asics British 10K, which goes right through central London, past St. James's Palace, Trafalgar Square,
St. Paul's Cathedral, London Eye, Big Ben, Houses of Parliament etc, you can have a look here.
Places were very hard to come by and I can keep mine if I raise £150 for my charity.
I'm raising funds for the Fairtrade Foundation. Why Fairtrade? Two billion people – a third of humanity – survive on less than $2 a day. Unfair trade rules keep them in poverty, but with Fairtrade that can change. Fairtrade is a passionate movement for change, bringing together farmers, businesses, communities and individuals across the world to tackle poverty and injustice through fairer systems of trade. Under the Fairtrade system, farmers receive a guaranteed minimum price plus an additional ‘premium’ to invest in schools, hospitals and brighter futures for their communities. Through Fairtrade, millions of people working in some of the lowest paid industries in the world, feel more secure and in control of their lives. You can help them each time you buy a product carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark, or by helping me reach my fundraising target by donating through this page. You can find out more information about the Fairtrade Foundation on their website hereIn the meantime, please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks for the support - I'll be sporting as many Australian flags as I can fit on my body!
Sally.
