Story
I had a shock in January 2011 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. A lousy year of tests, surgery and chemo with all the nasty side effects followed. It has been a long haul but I am almost back to ‘normal’ - if I ever was in the first place.
I had an amazing team of medical professionals to treat me but, just as important, was the brilliant work provided by the cancer charities. Cancer cannot be treated without them; they are CRUCIAL in getting patients and their families prepared for treatment, through the troublesome cancer journey and then on the road to recovery.
It was my friend Debbie who suggested this cycle challenge - on a boozy sunny Sunday afternoon at the rugby club! So we are off to do this together, and I am delighted that I get the opportunity to raise bucket loads of money for an excellent cause and give something back.
I've always been an aerobic junkie, but I've never done much cycling. I am very excited about getting bike fit and messing about with my bike chum Debbie – I know it will be a hoot! Anyway it’s all her fault, so when I am in agony and my bum feels like it’s been on a cheese grater for hours, she’s so gonna get moaned at!
If you know me at all, you know I'll give this everything, so any donation you can spare will help a great cause.
I'll keep you updated with progress; this web page is just the start...
