Story
Last summer I went on holiday with my sisters in law who were preparing to row the Atlantic (and have just finished - #mothership). They are AMAZING and spending time with them made me realise that I needed to stop finding reasons not to take on a challenge… so, I signed up to this event (the Atlantic was a step too far).
It’s the first time I’ve ever committed to something I didn’t KNOW I could do, I still don’t! When I started training in the autumn, the furthest I’d run was an unofficial half marathon with some mates (and that was massively further than my previous 10k), so I’m no distance runner! I’m now averaging 40+ miles a week and just need to keep my poor old knees going for another 5 weeks!
I’ve chosen to support Marmalade Trust as loneliness is experienced by most people at some point in life and it can have a profound effect on wellbeing. As well as supporting lonely people, the trust aims to change our view of loneliness. They want us to see loneliness as an experience not a condition. To talk about loneliness, not admit to it and, by building awareness, we can help ourselves and others manage the feeling.
Please support this worthy local cause (and me while you are at it). Thank you! #SallyGMU
