Story
This September - to mark international childhood cancer awareness month - Sally and Emma are doing the ultimate ‘come and sing’ event. A 24 hour singing marathon; four poignant requiems by Brahms, Mozart, Faure and Cecilia McDowall. The event takes place at St Paul’s church in London’s Covent Garden - from 8pm Friday to 8pm Saturday!
The event itself is raising money for Cancer Research UK and our participation supports this charity. But we’re both passionate in our desire to support research into the biggest cancer killer of kids, which is brain tumours. We’re singing in memory of Lizzie who died from an untreatable, inoperable brain tumour called DIPG. Lizzie was only 9 when she was diagnosed and we lost her only nine months later, days before her 10th birthday. She will be on the roll call of those lost to cancer, but we’ll both also be remembering many others whose lives have been taken too soon by this awful disease.
We participated in this event 4 years ago (see photo) when Lizzie was ill, so we know it will be a wonderful event, full of singing and tears, and cake to keep our energy up!
We would be incredibly grateful if you can support our fundraising with any donations - your support (plus the cake) will literally keep us singing all night on this big marathon sing!
Thank you so much,
Sally and Emma
