Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you will know that my husband, Neil, died on 30 January 2010, of lung cancer. He had fought the disease for 8 years and showed remarkable strength as he went through the dreadful roller coaster of symptoms, tests, treatment and side effects. During his illness we both received help and support from many areas and I wanted to give something back, to help ease the suffering for others going through a similar time. It was difficult to decide which charity to support, but I chose Macmillan as they were with Neil from the very start and were a favourite charity of his.
On Saturday, 11 June 2011, I started the Deloitte Ride Across Britain. We left from John'O'Groats and finished at Land's End on Sunday, 19 June. It was a very tough ride as we had to cover approx 110 miles a day and there was no time to take it easy for the odd day (or even hour)!
The whole thing was a fantastic experience and I could not have done it without the great support of the Deloitte Team (full details available at: www.rideacrossbritain.com ) as well as fellow riders! It was hard mentally and physically but whenever I felt like giving in I thought of Neil, he never gave in, so why should I?
I'm having a break now, but wanted to thank everyone for the wonderful support I've had and for your very generous donations!
