Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
Tom and Julie are walking from Salisbury to Rome via Canterbury, following the ancient pilgrim routes of St Swithun, the Pilgrims Way and the Via Francigena. This. a total distance approaching 2000 km. They are doing this for personal and spiritual reasons but are also raising money for three Salisbury-based charities which are close to their hearts. These are the Stars Appeal for the Salisbury District Hospital where Julie used to work, the Wessex Rivers Trust of which Tom was its first Director, and the Salisbury Cathedral Choral Foundation which provides funding opportunities for young choristers at the cathedral.
This journey began on 15th February 2020: the 800th year of the founding of the present Salisbury Cathedral. However they were stopped in their tracks by the Covid 19 Pandemic as they approached Canterbury. They are planning to resume their journey in late March 2022, now that the pandemic has eased and restrictions on movement have been lifted.
They hope that you will feel able to support them in this venture with a donation to support these three charities.
