Story
I am privileged to have worked with disabled people and their families throughout my career. It’s more than a job to me and II’m passionate about working with others to make a positive difference. I am currently Partnership Engagement Manager for Scotland and have worked with the charity for over 13 years, having seen the difference their support made to families I worked with as a social worker. Family Fund is the UKs largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
Last year, Family Fund provided over 170,000 grants or services worth over £36.5 million to families across the UK. Our purpose is to improve the lives of low-income families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people. Our mission is to provide items and services to all low-income families in the UK raising disabled or seriously ill children, that they could not otherwise afford or access, and that help improve their quality of life, realise their rights, and remove some of the barriers they face. Our vision is that all families raising disabled or seriously ill children have the same choices, quality of life, opportunities and aspirations as other families.
This April Family Fund turns 50 and I’m taking on this challenge of running a minimum of 50 miles and the 20 mile Giant’s Causeway race, to raise awareness of their work and raise funds to contribute to it. I also relish a challenge and getting outdoors! Thanks for your support. If you can’t donate, please share. X
