Story

In three weeks time I will be running 200 miles from Southport to Hornsea and hoping to raise as much money as I can for St Davids Hospice in memory of Tracey Rees.

My husband will be supporting me the whole way with clean clothes, food and words of encouragement.

I'm scared and it's going to hurt but when I take on these hard events I often think of the people who are going through so much in their lives that they can't choose to give up or know it's going to end at the finish line when you get cheers and a medal and T-shirt.

When I decided to take on this challenge Gerry told me of his daughter and it touched a nerve as I lost my dad to cancer in his early 40's. There were no hospice back then. Sadly Tracey has passed away and again I heard how amazing St Davids Hospice were.

This is what her Mum and Dad have written.

Tracey was 44 years old when she died from cancer. She was diagnosed in 2015 and fought bravely through operations and chemotherapy. She lost her beautiful long hair, but was always cheerful and never complained. She was married and had a little boy of 6. The last couple of months of her life she was in a lot of pain and she attended St Davids. They were fantastic and got her pain under control so she could enjoy the remainder of her life with her little boy and family. St Davids goes above and beyond to support the family and give a quality end of life to the patient.

Any little amount will help the hospice and get me through those miles.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Sal
