This Ramadan, Team Midlands are fundraising for orphan sponsorships and food packs around the world. Now why should you support this cause?

Currently we are living in a global pandemic, thousands of people have lost their lives, many of us may be suffering financially and struggling
to go about our day to day lives. Yet despite this, so many of us are blessed to have family around us and have a nice familiar place that we can all call “home”. Unfortunately, thousands of people are not as fortunate as we are. There are an estimated 153 million orphans worldwide, and, tragically, around 5,700 more children become
orphans, every day. As the most vulnerable members of society, they often face hunger, disease, exploitation and extreme cycles of poverty they will never
break out of.

Now take a moment to think of a child that you love who could
be struggling like this day in and day out without any family by their side. No matter the circumstances, it would be natural to do everything in your power help them right? The orphans around the world are no different and deserve every right to having a good quality of life.

Zakat is not only a fundamental pillar of Islam but is a
revolutionary concept to ease the suffering of millions of people worldwide. Ramadan is a beautiful opportunity for us all to donate to charity, a time where I hope not only can we support millions of people who are less fortunate than us but also reap lots of reward In Sha Allah! This is the perfect time to donate.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said:

“I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like these two” – and he gestured with his forefinger and middle finger, holding them close together.
