Sail for Cancer · 18 August 2021

We aim to provide the 'added extras' to enhance the care to our local population

Story

The Woodlands Centre is very important to club member Richard Edwards who was diagnosed with male breast cancer in 2019, and who after extensive treatment is now back sailing again. ‘Breast cancer is quite rare in men. There are about 350 men diagnosed each year in the UK, compared to around 55,000 cases in women.’ said Richard ‘Sailing was an important part of my recovery and I want to raise awareness of the condition and to recognise the important role that sailing had in my recovery’.

For those families that have been affected by cancer, but do not wish to sail, please come down and show your support in the beautiful surroundings of Grafham Water Sailing Club and share your story with others that have been affected by cancer too.
