3 peaks challenge · 8 July 2022

Together with local partners and country offices, we’re working in the world’s poorest countries to tackle the root causes of poverty and respond in emergencies, disasters and conflicts.

Story

On Friday 8th July 2022 I will be setting out on my biggest physical challenge to date. I will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge - climbing the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scaffell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), all in 24 hours. It will mean a total of nearly 23 miles of hiking, 462 miles of driving and 3400m of ascent.

I will be raising money for Yemen.  Described by the UN as the 'worst man-made humanitarian crisis of our time', the war in Yemen has turned a poor country into a humanitarian catastrophe.

Already one of the most water-scarce countries in the world, the destruction of so much of Yemen's infrastructure has left a massive 20.5 million people without access to safe water and sanitation. This water crisis has led to cholera outbreaks and increased malnutrition, with children being the most vulnerable.

Abu Hurairah (r.a.) reported Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.s) as saying: "charity does not in any way decrease the wealth and the servant who forgives, Allah adds to his respect; and the one who shows humility, Allah elevates him in the estimation (of the people)". (Muslim Vol.4, Hadith 6264)

Please donate however much you can and know that your rewards is with Allah or spread the message.

Jazakumullahu Khairan,

Safwaan
