Story

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On August 5th 2011, I am going to be doing the Three Peaks Challenge. That is, climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland, driving to the Lake District and climbing Scaffel Pike and then driving down to Wales and climbing Snowdon. That is a total driving distance of 460 miles, a total walking distance of 24 miles, and a total vertical climbing distance of 10,000 feet.

"No Problem" I hear some say. Now add that to the fact it has to be done from start to finish within 24 hours and Scaffel Pike will have to be climbed at 2am in the dark......now that's a challenge!! (even just because of the amount of roadworks all over the country!) A challenge I am very much looking forward to, and training has just begun.

I am doing this challenge to raise money for a wonderful charity that I have been volunteering for over the past 2 years - Homestart Havering. We are a charity that supports families in the community with young children that are struggling or finding life a bit tougher than others, for many different reasons. Please have a look at the website below to appreciate just how important Homestart is to the community, and what a difference it makes to all our families. Due to the wonderful government cuts and recession at the moment, like every charity, we need to find our own funding now to carry on the amazing work we do.  This is my way of contributing to something that I have first hand experience in seeing what a difference Homestart and their volunteers make to people's lives.

I myself, and Homestart Havering, would be extremely grateful for any contribution at all, or even if you want to contribute by teaching me how to use a compass, that would be great!. I know times are hard for everyone at the moment so if you only have 50p to spare....that will be fantastic and received with great thanks.

Will keep you posted and updated, and by the way, if you have seen someone these past few days in the scorching sun,  in a little summer dress with great big hiking boots and socks on trekking through the parks of Havering....it's just me, trying to break in my new boots!!!
