Story
On the 18th August, I made a split second decision to run the London marathon - with just 44 days to go!
I've never called myself a 'long distance' runner... But somewhere between running my first 10K in 2019, and the Hackney Half in May, I found myself getting hooked.
However, running a marathon is no mean feat (just mean to your feet...). I'm equal parts terrified, and excited to take on this HUGE challenge, and would be so grateful if you can chip in a donation to fuel me around the gruelling 26+ miles - my longest ever run.
I've got just over six weeks to be ready to run a full marathon - having only ever run 13 miles before. It's going to be intense, but with your support I'm determined to make it.
I'm so proud to be doing this barmy challenge in support of the incredible Bowel Cancer UK - where I'm lucky enough to work. Everyone at Bowel Cancer UK is dedicated to stopping people dying of bowel cancer. You donation will help to:
- Fund targeted research,
- Provide expert information and support to patients and their families,
- Educate the public and professionals about the disease,
- And campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
Together, with your support we can break the poo taboo, encourage people to see their GP if they're at all concerned, and save more lives - while being there every step of the way for patient and their loved ones.
If you'd like to learn what signs to watch out for - have a look at our symptoms page here: https://www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk/about-bowel-cancer/symptoms/. If you have any of these symptoms, chances are it isn't bowel cancer, but it's important to rule it out first and fast. Having gone to the GP to talk about my own worrying poos, and since being diagnosed with an IBD, I know how awkward it can feel, but overcoming those blushes to be brave and chat about bowels could save your life.
Thank you for your support - you're amazing!
