Story
I am running 26.2 miles (42km) in the London Marathon this year to support the MS Society. I am running in memory of my dad who sadly and unexpectedly lost his 20+ year battle with MS in the midst of the pandemic in July 2020.
Unfortunately travel restrictions at the time meant we couldn't go and say goodbye to him at his home in Kenya and so running this is my tribute to him and I am raising money for a cause that is very close to my heart.
MS is an unpredictable and incurable condition that affects a person's nervous system. It can attack suddenly or progress steadily and no one with MS can be sure when or how it will affect them next.
My dad was diagnosed when I was only 3 years old. He lost his balance and strength in his legs, experienced mobility issues, double vision, hearing impairment, brain fog, electric shocks and fatigue. It is a truly heart breaking and scary disease.
The MS Society fund vital research into the causes of MS and possible treatments. They also provide a helpline service, answering the calls of those looking for advice and support.
My dad was the best person I've ever known and I hope that all the donations that I raise can help stop MS and help the people living with MS currently to live as happy and healthy a life as possible.
