Story
We are setting up this fundraising page for Fanconi Hope in memory of our gorgeous baby sister Sabrina who died on the 30th April 2018 aged 16.
Sabrina was diagnosed with Fanconi Anaemia at the age of 2 and for the most part lived a normal and happy life unaffected by her condition. She enjoyed sports such as netball and tennis, travelled all over the globe and had a passion for music and shows. To all intents and purposes, she was a normal, happy teenager anticipating sitting her GCSEs this summer. This all came to a halt when, after a routine blood test, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia as a result of bone marrow failure due to her Fanconi Anaemia. She underwent a bone marrow transplant, spending Christmas and new year in an isolation room in hospital and all was looking great when she was finally allowed home in January. Then suddenly, within a matter of weeks, her leukaemia relapsed and she lost the use of both her legs and her eyes. She never lost her spirit or sense of humour and fought her battle hard to the very end.
Let’s all help raise funds for more research into this rare genetic condition and keep the hope of finding a cure in memory of Sabrina.
