In August 2014 Frank noticed he had limited movement in his
finger that progressed over the next 18 months. Frank and his family Sharon,
Courtney Clarke, Bethany and Darcy could never imagine this was actually the
start of a battle with an aggressive form of Motor Neurone Disease. A little
over 3 years later on Christmas Eve 2017 Frank lost his battle and passed away
with his family around him. His family describe it as a wicked and cruel disease
and with their blessing I want to raise awareness and some money in Frank’s
memory. £4000.00 could fund a person with MND to participate in a clinical trial for a year and that’s what we want to raise in order to help improve the future of MND sufferers and maybe even one day find a cure.
There is a 1 in 300 risk of getting MND across a lifetime. It affects adults of any age, but is more likely to affect people over 50. MND affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK
at any one time. It is not a common disease, general health and social
care professionals may not see many cases of MND. More support and research is needed to support sufferers and their families so please dig deep and give as much as you can.
I will be taking on Base Camp Everest on 6th October 2018 but will be completing various mini challenges as part of my training for the big event. My training will include 4
strength gym sessions a week supplemented with walking and running to build up
my overall fitness. This is going to be a tough challenge but with your support
I will carry with me a special token of Frank all the way to base camp and hopefully raise lots of money in his memory.
My trip is entirely self funded so every penny will go directly to motor neurone disease association.
