Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on Sunday 9 October to raise money for Arts 4 Dememtia charity.
For those that know me, you’ll know that I’ve never been a runner or into any kind of sport. Always choosing dancing and partying as my number one fitness exercise, my health has never been at the forefront! Fast forward to after giving birth to our beautiful daughter Nyla a little voice has been telling me to run (probably my husband Sam 😂). This year I decided to take up running and even though I have found it challenging, it has been the most beneficial for my mental health and health overall.
A very dear friend of mine’s father had dementia before sadly passing away 4 years ago. Arts for Dementia gave him a community in which he could participate in creative activities that kept him stimulated and added so much value to his quality of life. That same dear friend now works for the charity and helps them reach more people who experience dementia, providing artistic spaces for workshops as well as tools.
For those that know anyone living with dementia, you’ll know how it can have a great impact on the whole family as well as the person living through it. Charities like Arts for Dementia provide a great platform to help support both. Read below to find out how funding helps support the charity with its work.
I’ve taken on this challenge quite late, with only 6 weeks training till the run. I’m a few weeks into the training and totally committed!
Please help support by either donating to this fantastic charity or cheering me on on the day. Either will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.
All my love
Suzannah
Arts 4 Dementia is a fantastic UK charity, working with arts venues to:
Provide training and develop arts programmes.
Empower and inspire people with early-stage dementia and carers through artistic stimulation.
Help preserve fulfilling active life together, for longer at home.
Their Early-Stage Dementia Awareness Training for Arts Organisations empowers facilitators to deliver effective, person-centred workshops. They work with national agencies, cross-party parliamentary groups and academics to have arts integrated in NHS England's Well Pathway for Dementia.
How your donation helps;
£10 covers the cost of art materials for a participant workshop
£25 pays for a place at an art workshop for a person living with dementia
£50 pays for a place at an art workshop for a person living with dementia and a companion
