Story
So for my next challenge I will be riding in a 1 mile flat race at Newbury on 8th November. So for anyone wanting to come and watch please arrive at the racecourse by 11am. I will be riding a horse called Minmore Grey which is trained by Nick Lampart. I actual rode for Nick Point-to-Pointing 20yrs ago. I’ve not ridden regularly for the last ten years so this has been a great excuse to get back in the saddle!
I’m raising money for the Helping Horses campaign as chosen by ten year old Tilly, the daughter of one of my team at Women Who Count Ltd She wants to make sure they’re always being treated in the
best way possible and I think it is important that the next generation of riders are educated well.
The British Horse Society promotes and protects everything dear to you and your horse. For 70 years The Society has been a strong equestrian voice. We'll continue supporting horses and riders, and you can too.
With education at our core, The British Horse Society has
spoken repeatedly about Britain’s equine welfare and overpopulation crisis. The stark truth is there are more horses and ponies than responsible owners leading to horrendous cases of neglect, suffering and abandonment. The Society responds to over 6,000 welfare
cases each year, but there are thousands more that need our help. Immediate action needs to be taken. The British Horse Society reaches out to the most vulnerable communities with their Healthcare and Education clinics, where a horse can be castrated and given
dental care, hoof care, microchipped, and passported. Not only have we
prevented potential future foals from suffering, we have immediately improved the welfare of the horses as many of them will have been previously tethered and fly-grazing, are now living on yards or unchained in fields. The Society pro-actively offers support and advise owners to prevent their horses getting to the point of needing to be rescued. Your donations allow us to continue our vital welfare work, thank you for generously giving.
