Fundraising for The British Red Cross Society
Story
There are many Eastern European students and staff members in Oxford, but the process of going through this crisis has felt extremely lonely. I am setting up this fundraiser to give Oxford students and residents the chance to stand in solidarity with Ukraine, and to provide material support for the essential humanitarian efforts that the British Red Cross are providing.
The last few days have been difficult beyond belief, as explosions and fighting have broken out in areas that are familiar to me and other residents of Oxford. I cannot adequately express the grief and heartbreak that our community feels. Even small donations will be deeply appreciated.
Even if you haven't previously engaged with the issue, you should – there are 18,000 Ukrainians in the UK, and countless more people from the Eastern European diaspora. We are quite literally part of the backbone of this country.
