Story
Myself, my two wonderful sisters Harj and Narinder, my amazing friend Kam and my lovely sister in law Polly, are all hoping to make it to the top of Ben Nevis. We are climbing during the May bank holiday!
For those who don’t know my story, I want to share a brief explanation of why I challenge myself to climb a mountain for the Stroke association every year. Just over 15 years ago, we tragically lost my dad, after he suffered a very serious stroke. My Dad was a strong, proud and very kind man and his journey was one which as a family we struggled to watch. After suffering a stroke my dad was unable to talk or walk. There were moments when I cried a lot for the man my dad was and the man my dad had become due to illness. There were moments were I caught a glimpse of the man that was behind that illness, to which I smiled as I recognised the man I saw as my role model.
The end was the most difficult for all of us, to which I can’t imagine how it was for him. All hope of him ever getting better was gone and life itself was intolerable.
Sitting on the sidelines and watching this was the most difficult thing a person could ever go though and I don’t wish it upon anyone. I know what we as a family went through is not unique to us as there are many others all over the world going through the same situation. I want to help support those who need it most. But most importantly i want to raise money for vital research that will help develop mechanisms to improve the life’s of those who have suffered the stroke.
That is why we are asking you to kindly donate to this important cause.
