A dear friend of mine, Carl Hicks (Col., U.S. Army Ret.), lost his daughter Meaghan to pulmonary hypertension (PH) – a disease for which there is no known cure. He has worked tirelessly to combat PH and to help those suffering from it ever since. Every year in August, he participates in the Columbia River Triathlon in Vancouver, WA to raise funds for, and spread awareness of, pulmonary hypertension and Team PHenomenal Hope (Team PH). This year, I will be participating in the triathlon as a means of supporting both my friend and this great charity.
“Team Phenomenal Hope started in 2012 when Dr. Patty George raised a team of fearless women to compete in the grueling “Race Across America” to raise awareness and funds to combat pulmonary hypertension. In 7 days they rode non-stop on bicycles 2,670 miles from Laguna Beach, CA to Annapolis, MD. Evolving into one of the finest, most-efficient patient advocacy organizations in the world in this struggle, their awareness, research and patient programs are truly world class.” – Carl Hick’s Defeat PH Page
“Team PHenomenal Hope actively seeks ways to improve the quality of life for those with Pulmonary Hypertension by building community, providing patients with a voice, raising money for care and medical research, and yes, we still race all over the world to raise awareness and inspire those who cannot race because of their deadly condition.” – teamphenominalhope.org/about-us
Should you feel inclined, I ask that you please help by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people who know about this cause the greater Team PH’s impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity; it means a great deal!
